St. James' Shardlow and Great Wilne
St. James’ Church was built in the 1830s to serve what had become at that time the
largest inland port in the country. With its box-pews and tall pulpit it is a fascinating
example of early Victorian architecture.
We have a versatile meeting-room, the Hayward Room , at the west end of the Church,
which is available for community activities.
Our usual Sunday pattern is:
- 1st Sunday in the month: 9.00 a.m. Holy Communion.
- 2nd Sunday in the month: 10.30 a.m. Morning Prayer.
- 3rd Sunday in the month: 10.30 a.m. Family Communion.
- 4th Sunday in the month: 9.00 a.m. Holy Communion.
On the 4th Saturday in every month we hold a Coffee Morning from 10.00- 11.30 a.m.
in the Hayward Room. We have a wonderful selection of home-made cakes for sale.
The Choir meets to practice on Thursday evenings at 7.00 p.m.. New members are always
welcome.
The Evergreens meet on Wednesday afternoons in the Hayward Room.
